PORTLAND, Ore.
— You may not have heard about it yet, but if you’re a high school senior in Lincoln High or a driver for a trucking company in the Pacific Northwest, you may be one of the best law school graduates in the country.
The Lincoln High graduate, Andrew Gresham, says he was the only one who got the offer from the Lincoln trucking firm to go to law school.
It was a dream come true for Gresman, a 21-year-old from Portland, Ore., who grew up in the Portland suburbs.
Gresmans first thought it was a joke until he found out about the Lincoln scholarship in an online advertisement he was browsing on a day-to-day basis.
He says he thought it would be a way to earn more money for college, but his father was also working and needed a driver.
Gresman said he wanted to pursue law and work for a small law firm, but the offer was so good he had to take it.
Grosham is one of about 2,000 high school graduates nationwide who have been accepted into Lincoln High, the largest public high school in the state.
He is one the highest-ranking graduates of Lincoln High in his graduating class.
Grooms and Gresmen parents, Ken and Tammy Greshmans, had already worked with a Lincoln law firm.
They said they were in the process of getting the firm to hire more Lincoln graduates.
Gmsham said Lincoln’s school system has changed since he was in eighth grade.
Now, Lincoln is one part of the prestigious Oregon University system, where the law school is ranked among the top 10 law schools in the nation.
Gramsons father works at the Portland Bureau of Transportation.
Gmsham says his dad is an amazing driver, and his father has been with the firm for several years.GMs father says he has driven Lincoln’s trucks to major construction projects.
He said it is also a great way to make more money.
He said he plans to go back to school to become a lawyer.
